Welcome to Petersburg Regional Art Center, one of the largest art centers in Virginia

Petersburg Regional Art Center is located in Historic Petersburg Virginia. PRAC has a monthly juried all media art show with $600 in award money. The reception is the second Friday evening of each month. The center has several new art displays every month in the Mezzanine Gallery. PRAC has artist studios on four floors featuring a variety of work from many artists. Visit us soon!

Hours
We are open from 10 AM until 4 PM Wednesday through Saturday and other hours by appointment. The art center is open for the second Friday reception every month until 10 PM.

Events
• • • Friday, January 13th Friday for the Arts - Juror is Alexandra Hunter, Alexandra is the events and projects coordinator at the University of Richmond Downtown, an innovative space with a public gallery in the heart of the city. Before joining the University she managed public programs at the Chrysler Museum of Art and taught the history of photography at Old Dominion University and Tidewater Community College’s Visual Arts Center. In our nation’s capitol she worked at the Smithsonian Institution during the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian and the reopening of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She holds an M.A. in Art and Museum Studies from Georgetown University. The 392nd Army Band's Jazz Combo will be the entertainment for Friday for the Arts. The Mezzanine Gallery will feature: Fred Fann – Photography, Barbara Edrick & Janice Hayes – Mixed Media, Bill Sabino – Oil, Valerie West – Ceramics, Matt Cowan – Mixed Media and Binford Harrell – Mixed Media. Reception: Friday, January 13th, Awards Ceremony 7:30pm. Show ends February 4th.

• • • Friday, February 10th Friday for the Arts - Juror is Ann Hart-Chay, a painter, photographer, and artist’s artist, is most proud of her daughter and founding Visual Art Studio in what has seemingly quickly become the Historic Downtown Arts District. As a hands on Board Member of Curated Culture, the nonprofit behind the promotion of the First Friday Art Walks, she has been dedicated to the Arts and the Revitalization of Downtown Richmond. This is the city, after all, where she was born and raised; even graduating from its renown School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University with honors. To see what’s going on please visit www.visualartstudio.org. Entertainment will be provided by Sergeant Wesly Wagner and Specialist Joseph Bennett of the 392nd Army Band. The Mezzanine Gallery will feature: Clifton Dickens – Mixed Media, Lane Hiers – Oil, Johanna Stoneking – Photography, Joe DeIuilo – Oil, Angel Flora Balton – Mixed Media and Kitty Hedgpeth – Mixed Media. All Shows end March 3rd.

• • • Featured Artist for the Month of February will be Joe DeIuilo. Joe will be here to show off his creative oil paintings. His paintings are definitely one of a kind, so come see him during this month’s Friday for the Arts!

• • • Friday, March 9th, 7pm Friday for the Arts - Juror is Valery Bates, a photographer and educator with a background teaching at V.C.U., V.S.U. and John Tyler Community. She is also a member of multiple photo organizations. Such as The Richmond Camera Club, The Photographic Society of America, and The National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Her PH.D is in Mass Communications from Howard University. Entertainment provided by Zach Artis ~Blues. Photography Show in Mezzanine Gallery ** $5 per entry ** Enter up to three pieces ** All entries must be framed with mat board if needed ~~~CASH AWARDS!!!!!~~~

The arrow points to the Petersburg Regional Art Center building. The building was built in 1858 and it was formerly a department store and a furniture store before becoming the art center. It has four floors and a basement. Three floors and the basement have studios. There are two large art galleries. Openings are the second Friday of each month. There are directions on this page.
