Welcome to Petersburg Regional Art Center, one of the largest art centers in Virginia

Petersburg Regional Art Center is located in Historic Petersburg Virginia. PRAC has a monthly juried all media art show with $600 in award money. The reception is the second Friday evening of each month. The center has several new art displays every month in the Mezzanine Gallery. PRAC has artist studios on four floors featuring a variety of work from many artists. Visit us soon!

Hours
We are open from 10 AM until 4 PM Wednesday through Saturday and other hours by appointment. The art center is open for the second Friday reception every month until 10 PM.

• • • Friday, May 11th 7pm Friday for the Arts - Juror is Betsy Kellum: Kellum studied art at The Art League School, Old Town Alexandria, VA. In addition, she has studied with renown artists Burton Silverman, Robert Liberace, Doug Dawson, Albert Handell, Tim Tyler and others. Betsy teaches oil and pastel painting in her home studio. She has juried and judged local, state and regional art shows and her artwork has been featured in numerous national periodicals and books. Besty is an international and national award winning artist, earning signature membership in national art organizations throughout the U. S. Entertainment will provided by Vocal Commutation. Mezzanine Gallery will feature Charles Meyer – Oil, Sandy Nye Moran – Watercolors and the Student Show. All Shows end June 2nd, 2012.

• • • The Artists Circle of Petersburg will be the featured Artist of the Month on Friday for the Arts, May 11th at the Petersburg Regional Arts Center. Member artists Doris Gilliland (pastels), Binford Harrell (conceptual composition), Peggy Falkner (tile and glass mosaic) and Charles Meyer (oil painting) will be demonstrating their skills in the main gallery from 7pm to 10pm.

• • • Friday, June 8th 7pm Friday for the Arts - Juror is Mark Baldridge: Mark received his B.S. from State University College at Buffalo in art education. He then went on to receive his M.F.A. in jewelry/metalsmithing from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Mark is currently an art professor at Longwood College where he’s been since 1972. Entertainment will provided by the Appomattox Regional Governor's School Orchestra. Mezzanine Gallery will feature Jessica Wiencek – Photography, Jorge Diaz – Oil/Acrylic, Trish Casey-Green – Photography, Sandy Nye Morgan – Watercolor, Nikki Bass – Mixed and Terry Smith – Acrylic. All Shows end July 7, 2012.

• • • The Petersburg Regional Art Center is pleased to announce that the prospectus for the 2012 National Juried All-Media Exhibition is now available. This exhibition will be held in October 2012 in the Main Gallery on the first floor of the art center. Two or three-dimensional artwork in all media will be accepted; up to 50 inches in either direction. All works must be original and completed within the last 5 years. Each artist may submit a maximum of 10 pieces electronically. Please visit our web site at www.pracarts.com to download an entry form. For specific submission queries contact us at pracsubmissions@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 6, 2012.

Sycamore Street Entrance

The arrow points to the Petersburg Regional Art Center building. The building was built in 1858 and it was formerly a department store and a furniture store before becoming the art center. It has four floors and a basement. Three floors and the basement have studios. There are two large art galleries. Openings are the second Friday of each month. There are directions on this page.
